They share their home with Tallahassee, a handsome pitbull named after the character in the movie Zombieland, and two kitty siblings, Arbi and Hemingway. When joining derby, RIOT! Atchya tried on a couple of names, but ultimately chose their current moniker as a homage to their love for Paramore, and specifically, the band’s album “RIOT!”. The most popular track on the album, “Misery Business,” had launched the band into the upper echelon of the scene, and RIOT! Atchya wanted to incorporate the album title into their derby name. The name “RIOT! Atchya” is a playful nod to the phrase “right at ya.” When not playing derby, RIOT! loves to perform karaoke, with “Misery Business” being their go-to showstopper song, complete with split kicks. They even had the opportunity to perform the song with a live band on the pool deck of the Emo’s Not Dead Cruise.
